Jobs for teens are hard to find. Especially with the economy beings as bad as it is lately, most teens are out of luck. Some find luck with pet care, such as dog sitting while people are out of town or dog obedience training for a neighbor. Others have fallbacks such as babysitting and lawn mowing, but often these jobs can only take you so far. Teens have to reach out to find new jobs where they can get actually work place experience and make more money. But where can they do this? And Why is it so difficult to find jobs for 14 year olds?

It's so difficult for teens to get summer jobs because all the ones that used to be available are being taken up by older people and college students. Due to the economic slump, lots of businesses have had to make dramatic cuts in the past year. This leaves a huge number of people without employment. These adults are taking on waitressing and retail jobs because there is no other option. Also, college students can't intern any more because they need the money and often work places can't afford to train them any longer. So this adds another sizable chunk of people to the employment pool. With such high competition, and high scholars being the youngest, least-experienced ones among the picking, they are loosing lots of job opportunities.

There are websites teens can add resumes to in order for people seeking employment to find them. This can expose less popular employers to teens. A good place to look as a teen in the summer is landscaping, driveway and painting jobs. There are a lot of smaller businesses that need help, and if you pounce fast enough they would love young, strong jobs for 14 year olds.

Also, take advantage of family ties. If your mom is friends with someone who owns some kind of business or company, reach out and send an email. The only bad thing that could happen is that they wouldn't need any help. In such a dry spell, every step must be taken if you really want to find a suitable job.

Don't turn any job away. Just because you may have to wear an ugly uniform or silly roller skates shouldn't turn you off. If it pays well and is willing to hire, take it. Anyone who laughs at you should really envy you because you are making money. An income is no joke. Getting a job while still young teaches good financial planning and it allows teens to save up for cars and college.

Getting a job at the age of fifteen, sixteen or even seventeen can make a huge difference come time for college. You will have money tucked away and be experienced in how to handle it. Not to mention, it prepares you with skills for the real world. You learn how to handle stressful jobs for 16 year olds, work with people and manage time effectively.

Chuck Stewart recently studied dog obedience training facilities while treating his dog Francie to play new games. He also reviewed dog sitting facilities while treating his dog Francie to a day away from home.
